St. Anthony of Padua Education Council

School Advisory Committee

The parish Education Council has established a School Advisory Committee that will be dedicated to supporting the school administration, staff, students, and parents. The Council is currently seeking to appoint between 5 and 11 members to the Committee, which will begin functioning at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.

† Purpose

The purpose of the Committee is to provide advice and assistance to the pastor and principal regarding the religious, educational, and financial operation of the school. It formulates strategic planning for SAOPCS, and facilitates communication between the school and the rest of the parish. It identifies and articulates the needs and aspirations of the school and the school community, and these goals become the basis for program objectives, policies, and action plans for program development. It assists in policy development that gives general direction for administrative action. The Committee also supports the fundraising efforts of the school and parent organizations.

† Membership

We are seeking members who can serve a term of 3 years and are able to commit to regular attendance at monthly meetings. To be eligible to serve on the committee, a person must be a registered parishioner and/or parent of a child registered in the school.

† Process for appointment

Those interested in serving on the committee should submit a letter of interest addressed to Father Tom no later than Tuesday, June 1. In conjunction with Father Tom and Mrs. Nunez, the Education Council will appoint committee members in June. An orientation will be held before school begins in August.
